Fishwick Papers: The "Be Brave, Be Kind" Edition
Good Sunday to you!Hello, and welcome to a rare weekend edition. Why on a Sunday? I'll tell you why: you're not my dad, you can't tell me what to do. Unless you are my dad, who I know reads these. Hi Rob! The reason it's on a Sunday is that I'm about to be very busy the next two weeks and there are some very cool things in here that I wanted to get out to you now rather than in three weeks' time. I hope you can forgive me.August was a very enjoyable month, as July was a busy one, and then I didn't have much to do. Unfortunately, I failed to learn from this, and I've somehow booked myself up again for September and October. If you're in Melbourne, you can catch me in Impro Melbourne's Theatresports shows, and I'll be teaching a course on interactive/immersive theatre. If you're in Wellington, I'll be debuting a brand new show called The Saboteur. I've been working on it for about four years, and I'd love to see you there if you're interested. In museum industry news, a fascinating discussion has been playing out at the International Council of Museums about what their agreed definition of a museum *is*. Here's the old one. Here's a summary of the proposal for a new one. For some it was a controversial proposal (too progressive, not progressive enough). If you're interested, here are some opinions from clever people that really got me thinking: Seema Rao, George Okello Abungu, Dan Hicks.Alright, that's enough of that. Thank you for subscribing and reading and telling me what you liked. Thank you for telling your friends about this and sending them the link to subscribe, that's cool of you!I'll see you at the other end of September, you cool beans.I love you,BYEEEEEEjim xoxo
