Fishwick Papers: The "Remember The Fishwick Papers?" Edition
So, uh, hi.It's been a short while since one of these happened. Let me talk about it. I started this newsletter when I started my job at ACMI. At that stage of designing the exhibition we were researching everything. History of film, queer art videogames, 1970s cop shows, the works. I was being paid to find generally interesting corners of our remit. And I wanted to share them with y'all! So I did.Since March, though, I've been working on one specific section of the exhibition. I'm researching 14 specific films, games, and tv shows. I'm still finding interesting things, and lots of cool details, but the names of the works I'm researching are under wraps until the exhibition launches. So that means I can't share the research I'm doing every day. I'm still collecting interesting things I find along the way, but they've become more incidental.Over time, I made the call to only send a paper when I had a full set of things to share. And that was often every second week. But then various shows and projects and deadlines came up, or I'd be busy on the day I was supposed to send the email, and two weeks turned into four turned into ten. It became more of a task to choose one email's worth of links from the ever-increasing backlog pile. Momentum, y'know? So here I am! I'm back. Welcome to the new subscribers, for whom all of this will be utterly meaningless. Thank you to the old subscribers, for not losing hope. This is a weekly-ish newsletter of cool things I find, often to do with film, tv, videogames, and art, but also museums, language, theatre, social nuances, and other nifty things that I stumble across. That's it from me! See you next week. Or so.I love you,BYEEEEE,Jim
